There are two flavors of rhinocerous: white and black. This actually has nothing to do with their coloring, which is identical. It has to do with the shape of their lips. When Dutch explorers first saw the animals they remarked upon their wide lips - "wide" in dutch being poronounced "whydt" (spelled "weit"). Since there is only one other kind of rhino, it must of course be called "black." This is a black rhino.
