A termite mound the size of a volkswagon. Closer to the desert, they have spires and crags; in Samburu - where it does actually rain once in a while - the spires are melted away, but the mounds reach impressive sizes. In the Maasai Mara, where there is an extended rainy season, the mounds have a more melted appearance. Many creatures use termite mounds, which are an ecology unto themselves.
